Daddy
What does that word mean to you? For some it’s a source of joy, security, unconditional love. For others, well, none of the aforementioned words.
Whether you embrace the beauty of the word “Daddy”, or a well of painful emotions come flooding your soul - there is a perfect Daddy. He is God, Our Heavenly Dad.
I know that some folks get a tad uncomfortable when I refer to God as Dad. There are times He is Father, a term of respect and deep awe. But He’s my Dad too. The One whom I go to when the world is unfair. When I have skinned up knees because I did something stupid. The One who saves every tear I’ve cried. That’s a Daddy, don’t you think?
When our daughter Jillian was three years old, Bob and I loaded up the car and decided the Troyer troup would visit the East Coast. As we entered the southern boarder of Maine, driving along the coastline, Jillian needed to stretch her little legs. There was a playground overlooking a rocky beach. Absolutely breathtaking! The ocean waves were crashing on the rocks, the gulls were making their signature sound, the salty sea air filled my lungs. However, when I recall the beauty of the landscape there was one vision that was more breathtaking than the waves, the rocks, the beach……….it was that of my husband Bob loving our little girl, her heart soaring as she enjoyed being the apple of her daddy’s eye. Laughing, smiling her splendid smile, swinging back and forth on that beautiful September day. When I need a visual in my mind of what a Daddy is, and how God feels about me. That was a gift God gave me that day.
He adores me. He adores you, too. Enjoy Him - for time and for eternity, in Jesus name.

Someone who has been very influencial in my life once told me that God, my Daddy, the “perfect” Daddy looks down on me and says, “That’s my girl” and He smiles at me. That’s my visual. Thanks for sharing.
